dv_vd : Recollections
Recollections is a program of seven short films that explores the capacity of memory, not only to preserve fragments of the past but also to reconstruct and reimagine them. Through the simple act of remembering, memory has the ability to transform what we consider true or real, revealing new perspectives that invite us to rethink — and often heal — our intimate and collective relationships.
After several years of film studies at Concordia University, Mathilde Fauteux has been working in the arts and film industry for over three years. Notably, she worked as part of the short film programming team at Festival du nouveau cinéma. As Distribution Coordinator at Vidéographe, Mathilde is looking forward to pursuing her passion for new talent and new forms of expression.
Siam Obregón is a Mexican filmmaker and visual artist. She completed her BFA with a Specialization in Film Production at Concordia University. Her work focuses on observation, intimacy, and themes of cultural identity. Her latest works have been featured in multiple festivals including HotDocs, Festival International du Film sur l’Art (FIFA), and REGARD.

The selected works in Recollections embrace this imaginative quality of memory, which can be unsettling yet always fertile, deeply rooted in reality. Here, traces of the past unfold in chimeric ways, exposing the dynamic and ever-evolving relationship between the places, bodies, and stories we inhabit — and that, in turn, inhabit us.
Recollections was presented on March 27th 2025 at Dazibao, as part of the dv_vd series, a collaboration between the two organisations.
