Meeting the Ancestors

Wai-Wai, chief of the Waiapi Indians, relates to the inhabitants of his village in his voyage to meet and film the Zo'é - a group recently contacted and known through video images. The two groups, who have in common several traditions, speak varying dialects of the Tupi language. During their visit, they compare technologies, rituals and myths. The Zo'é give their visitors the opportunity to rediscover the lifestyle of their ancestors. In exchange, the Waiapi warn the Zo'é of the dangers of assimilation into the industrialised world, through the means of video images.
