Robert Forget, founder and first director of Vidéographe, explains his vision for the centre and for video. At the time, Vidéographe was a temporary project run by the NFB, due to end in the spring of 1973. Forget emphasises, amongst other things, the need to produce structured works, the establishment of a distribution network for video, the need to engage with and communicate with the public, the democratising effect of video, and its relationship with television and cinema.
